The Origin of God's Love Bank
Originally, God's Love Bank grew out of the challenges and struggles I was experiencing in my own soul, and from those I saw in the African American family system. These struggles were especially apparent in African American males and fathers. In fact, many scholars have concluded that the African American male and father has become an endangered species as a result of their self-destructive tendencies. At first, all I knew was that something was causing negative, toxic, self-defeating, self-sabotaging, and self-destructive behavior in the African American family system, particularly in the males and fathers. I was so distressed by this information, that I was compelled to do further research about the struggles in my own soul, and those I saw in the African American family system. My research took me on a twenty-one year journey which ultimately led me to study success and failure in all human beings from all races, cultures, and backgrounds. I therefore purposed to discover what was causing the negative, toxic, self-sabatoging, self-destructive tendencies in me and other human beings, especially African Americans males and fathers!
At first, my purpose journey led me to complete a doctoral dissertation at Abilene Christian University on the problem of old self-love in the African American family system. However, to my surprise, I found the struggles with old self-love, which I thought were limited to African American males, were not limited to them only, but rather it was a problem with the whole human race. In fact, I learned that the struggles I was having, and those I witnessed in my own race, was a problem with the entire human race all over the globe. I discovered that all human beings struggle with negative, self-defeating, self-sabotaging, self-destructive tendencies, yet all with a sincere intent to love ourselves. However, what was most important to me, I discovered it was a phenomenon which I call old self-love, the bank robber of people's souls! It is this research which became the foundation for God’s Love Bank, (book one), You Are God’s Love Bank, (book two), and Discovering God’s Purpose As God’s Love Bank, (book three).
You will notice in all three books that the bibliography includes additional books not listed in the text. I chose to do this for three reasons. First, I wanted the bibliography in all three books to include all of the research and references found in my 25 year journey toward the development of the God’s Love Bank program and curriculum. Second, I wanted to include the research from my doctoral thesis in the bibliography of each book. Third, I wanted others, if they feel so compelled, to be able to contribute to my research, thus allowing the findings of my 25 year journey to be continued, along with the research of the authors and books who greatly influenced my thinking.

Today, the primary reason for the existence of God's Love Bank Enterprises is to cooperate with the Holy Spirit in disseminating the Gospel of Jesus Christ to 10 Million people or as many people as possible. Specifically, God's Love Enterprises accomplishes this unique purpose by helping people realize that they have old self-love, so they can put it off and put on New Self-Love. Finally, it helps people fulfill God's New Self-Purpose in their lives by acting in obedience to the Holy Spirit's calling in their daily lives! With this in mind, the overriding objective of God's Love Bank Enterprises is to help people follow Jesus' example of obeying the Holy Spirit's calling of purpose in their lives. Jesus acted in obedience to God's calling in His life and He left us His example to follow. Listen to Jesus,
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord."
Thus, God's Love Bank Enterprises seeks to preach and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to as many people as possible, with a primary goal of 10 million people. It's message is the simple Gospel, packaged, organized, systematized, and strategically arranged, targeting the poor, the brokenhearted, the captives, the spiritually blind, and the hurt and bruised, all in the context of their crisis! God’s Love Bank Enterprises also serves as a training firm and a research institute for developing New Self-Love in human beings of all ages, ethnic groups, and cultures. The God's Love Bank Research and Training Institute directs a team of researchers in helping people from infancy to adulthood to realize they are God's Love Bank. It provides God's Love Bank facilitation programs for teaching, training, and counseling singles, couples, families, grade schools, colleges and universities, churches, organizations, and businesses.
The God’s Love Bank program is taught globally through a synicated radio and television program called God's Love Bank! Its scope includes God's Love Bank books, God's Love Bank informercials, God's Love Bank motivational workshops, seminars, video conferencing, God;s Love Bank church programs and curriculums, God's Love Bank computer games and programs, audio and video CD’s and DVD’s, and video and board games. Finally, separate and apart from God's Love Bank Enterprises, yet cohesively linked together with it, is the God’s Love Bank program and curriculum implemented in a practical community sensitive ministry maintained daily at the Minda St. Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas. Dr. Roach and his wife Candyce estabished the Minda St. Church of Christ twenty-five years ago in 1979! Dr. and Mrs. Roach have been faithfully serving the Minda St. Congregations since its beginning in 1979!
